FICOTA 2026
The Global Game-Changer for African Textiles
Organized by the African Chamber of Trade & Commerce, the 4th edition of the International Cotton, Textiles, Accessories & Fashion Forum (FICOTA) will take place from November 16th to 19th in Cairo, Egypt. Under the theme of "African Cotton Industrialization/Optimization," this landmark event marks the first time FICOTA is hosted in the MENA region. Cairo was selected as the host city due to its historic status as one of the most attractive cotton and textile manufacturing hubs in Africa. Held under the patronage of the Egyptian government and the Egyptian Cotton Research Centre, the forum is a collaborative effort involving the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the Africa-US Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The forum is designed as a highly interactive and enigmatic experience, combining high-level presentations with practical business opportunities. Key focus areas include pilot farming initiatives, research and development in regenerative agriculture, and the exploration of carbon credits and markets. A major highlight of the event is the FICOTA Round Table, which addresses sustainable banking and finance for women in the cotton and textiles value chain, aiming to foster empowerment and leadership. Attendees will engage in diverse activities ranging from technical trainings and debates to trade shows and business networking.
Beyond the business sessions, FICOTA offers a vibrant cultural program, including evening fashion parades and the African Fashion Project (AFP) Designers Competition Gala Nite, showcasing the creative use of African cotton in modern garments. Participants can also join tours to Egypt's iconic pyramids and museums. The event brings together a wide array of stakeholders, from government officials and international investors to local producers and craftsmen, with the shared objective of collaborating to acquire new markets and highlighting the expertise of local producers.
